Default End of Stream Reached - session broken - import session data does not work...

Hello.

Just had an engineer call about a session created in 2008 on a G5 / 10.4.9 / 7.4cs3 on a EZ Quest 120 GB OS Extended drive that was created in 2005. The session has neither been across a network nor been transferred to a MS-DOS drive, but is now giving the 'end of stream' message when trying to open it. The last few save-session backups were broken - just trying open them or importing tracks from them would yield the 'end of stream' message, with PT folding after two or three tries.

Preferences and Database folders were then cleared. Permissions were then repaired.

Now when the operator was able to open the last save session backup (from one hour before) save copy in (with all audio, to a different drive) and now there is intermittent blasts of 5kHz tones randomly - on the kick, then bass, then rhythm guitars, etc. Consolidating the regions would make the clips actually show up.

I had the engineer make a new session (on the first drive) and import the tracks from the save copy in - and the clicks happen at different spots.

I now have the engineer copying everything to a new drive (approx 67 GB ; approx 100+ sessions) - the backup currently is another (even older) EQ Quest.

Poking around on the DUC (and on the interwebs in general), I see this usually has to do with Windows, MIDI, or network transfers. None of that is involved with these sessions.

ANY Help or understanding would be great. I don't have a PC here to load Railjohngut's app onto.

Thank you all.
