Default Does anyone know if two UAD Apollo 16 can be used at the same time with Pro Tools?

Hello,

I'm seeing here (look at the "hardware" tab) that you can link two Apollo 16 interfaces to get 32 channel I/O. Does anyone know if that's valid with Pro Tools? I have never tested Apollo interfaces and I'm thinking about getting two of those. I don't know if the host sees a single 32 channel interface or it sees two interfaces, in which case I don't think PT lets you use both. They are at $2,999 right now on Sweetwater.

Also, can anyone comment on how good is that $5,998 option to get 32 simultaneous great quality channel I/O with Pro Tools against any possible options for the money? I'm under the impression that trying to do that with HDX would be much more expensive, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks in advance,

Francisco

Remember that the Apollo 16's are tied together with MADI, so a best guess (and that's all it is) is that they would be seen as a single 32-channel interface.

But your best bet would be to post this on the UAD forum...

Just rockin'...what more is there?

Thank you Bill. I just found a vídeo from UA that explains that the host sees a single big interface.

I still would like to know if that's the best sugesstion for a $6k purchase to obtain 32 high quality channels I/O.

Zarabozo,

The Antelope Orion would be a good choice for half the price.

But from what I hear, the USB drivers are not ready for prime time, so people are having better results using it via MADI, hooked up to an RME card of some sort.

Well, there's the optional thunderbolt interface, which I believe works perfectly... But that makes it more expensive in both ends.

Thanks for the sugesstion, I'll check it out. Is it as good in converters?

From what people have said, the Orion seems to be very similar in quality and character to the Lynx Aurora, and that's been generally considered to be of pretty nice quality.
