Default Elastic Audio working on SOME files...

ive got a folder of drum tracks i was going to mess with to check out 7.4, so i start messing
i do the elastic audio thing with them all, they all have the check mark next to thier names, but only about 1/4 of them are actually working (conforming to session tempo, non working ones still play but at their original tempos). working files have the length changed from time to bars/beats and change with the session tempo. they are .wav format, and some are even left and right versions (rooms for instance) where one conforms and the other doesnt. has anyone run into this.
i did a search for (elastic audio not working) but couldnt find anything on this problem.
anyone?

thanks in advance!

There may be something in the audio file that is tricking the analysis and putting markers where they shouldn't be. You can try lowering the "Event Sensitivity" in the "Elastic Properties" window, but it may be necessary to do a little manual tweaking of event markers.

thanks for the suggestion.
thats the thing, there are no markers. it does NOTHING to the file, but says it has been 'elasticized' and is ready to work. the little indicators in the project browser havent changed though (from blue dot to green metronome) which i think means its NOT 'elasticized', but it goes through the whole process. any other thoughts?

Are the files that aren't working particularly short or very quiet?

It could be either assuming that they are one-shots (hence the sample based icon), or not detecting the transient due to low record volume.

Try dragging the file on to a track and check what transients it has detected.

Hi there,

First, if you want to get these files pre-analyzed, select the folder they're in and choose to analyze for elastic audio from the browser menu. As best it can, it will try to determine the tempos of these files, and when it can, it will give them the little metronome icon. For these ones, it will be able to automatically preview and import at the session tempo.

For the others (the ones that don't the get metronome icon, for which it couldn't figure out the tempo), you can still use them as elastic audio, but you'll just have to manually conform them to the tempo of your song after importing them on to a track, which is really easy. At that point, you'll have a beat mapped region of the file in the region bin of your session (with the little metronome next to it).

thanks for the replies guys, the files are all full song length multitracked drums, so def not one shots

hi paul, thanks for chiming in, is this process covered in the manual? if so, could you direct me to it or give me a quick version here? im hoping this all works like its supposed to, which im under the impression it will so far, just got to figure it out

thanks again!
