newbie, can't hear midi keyboard
Hi there!
So yes, I'm such a newbie with Pro Tools, just bought an M-Audio fast track, which included Pro tools SE, I've been having fun doing some recordings of real instruments, but then I got a little keyboard (keystation mini 32) and I can't find the way to hear it on my headphones (those are plugged to the fast track interface), I got an instrument track: then I start recording and the track shows that is recording notes, but I can't hear anything, not in my computer or headphones, here the settings I tried for it (it only gives me one xpand option): and nothing, I've looked through tutorials, but they only show about recording not about hearing it, also most of the tutorials are for normal versions of Pro Tools, not the SE, I'm probably missing something silly, as again, I'm new at this, so if somebody could help me I would be soooooo happy Last edited by cRistrings; 10-13-2013 at 08:33 AM. |

Re: newbie, can't hear midi keyboard
Hey Craig F, it says grand piano, but I've changed that to others and still no luck, thanks for your quick reply btw
I also tried midi external devices and nope not the grand piano (or other VI) or midi external devices give me any sound, it records them but I can't hear anything Last edited by cRistrings; 10-12-2013 at 10:14 PM. |

yes, I've clicked recording on the track, then play the keyboard and nothing. then the track recording and also the main recording button on the top without the play one, played the keyboard and no sound, only when i actuallly record (with play button as well) i can see it on the track that i'm playing but i can't hear it in anyway, now, not sure how to default the i/o settings as my pro tools SE doesn't has a "settings" menu |

Re: newbie, can't hear midi keyboard
Have you selected output on Instrument & Master track to 'Main out L/R'?

Re: newbie, can't hear midi keyboard
Just wondering if you managed to sort this out as I'm having the same issue. MIDI virtual instrument can be seen registering output in mix window but there is no actual sound being generated.
Cheers.

Re: newbie, can't hear midi keyboard
Try starting a new project and creat a new instrument track and select Mini Grand piano. This worked for me. I don't know why it wouldn't work in my previous session. At least this sorts out part of the problem.
