Re: Focusrite saffire pro 40 I/O Interface with pro tools 10
im running mac osx snow leopord 10.6.8 and i think i dont have the right fire wire drivers intalled. i have AppleFWOHCI version 4.7.3, not the AappleFWaudio driver installed could this be my problem? it might not be the problem as the saffire mix control says locked and the firewire says connected. can someone show me where i can find the rightt firewire drivers that are compatible with my version of mac osx? thanks. i just bought this saffire pro 40 interface, and i dont know if it was a good purchase.

Re: Focusrite saffire pro 40 I/O Interface with pro tools 10
also in pro tools should i have the playback engine set to saffire, or buit in input or output. i cant get the sound to play back when the playback engine is set to saffire.also in the system prefrences under the sound tab i had the output and input settings to saffire, pro tools shows levels of sound going, but i cant hear anything unless i put the playback engine to built in output. also under the audio devices settings that comes up when i press the launch setup app in the hardware setup screen in pro tools only sometimes comes up. also only sometimes when i run the audio midi setup app in the utilities folder. all this is while i have the saffire selected under the peripherals list. under audio devices clock source is put to internal. and what should i have the input and output settings set to under the audio devices tabs? thanks alot for the help.

Re: Focusrite saffire pro 40 I/O Interface with pro tools 10
The Playback Engine in Pro Tools should be set to Saffire. Have you installed the latest version of MixControl? And what FW800 to FW400 adapter are you using? Some cheap adapters can cause problems.
In MixControl, make sure DAW 1-2 is routed to the main outputs and the headphones, then check if Pro Tools is playing through the Saffire. If you want your computer audio (iTunes etc.) to play through the interface also, select "Use this device for sound output" for the Saffire in AudioMIDI Setup.
