Do yourself a favor and run XP instead.

Xp Pro with service pack 3, 32 bit. Vista seems to use a massive amount of RAM in and of itself, which causes a bit hit in PT performance.

These guys are correct. I ran Vista for awhile with LE7.4 it was alright then LE8 and it started to throw me nags. I listened to the guys here and around the DUC, got another HD...so cheap these days...slapped XP/LE8 on it and haven't turned back. Do the basic tweaks listened on the stickies and maybe not even all of them and you'll have a solid config. Win7 holds some promise but that's way down the road since it's now only in "beta".
