Yep, sort of, I mean for a remote Transport, very well, Record Arm tracks, Automation modes, etc., but the Pan will only Pan Mono tracks in segments of 4 and you can only Automate the Volume Fader, no Sends, but what do you expect for about $60 USD.

Re: Presonus FaderPort with Pro Tools.
I love the Faderport and it is a work in progress. They are updating the firmware soon, should be any week now. I use it as a transport all day - it works fine for me on everything I use it for - haven't used it for panning, forgot the knob was even there! And like Filo says, it is inexpensive and built like a brick. If I couldn't use it to swap edit and project screens just by flailing away with my right hand I'd be unhappy.

Re: Presonus FaderPort with Pro Tools.
The only thing I know absolutely for sure is to enable the punch jack on the back. Besides the transport (let's face it, you will eventually go crazy using onscreen transports), one of the reasons I picked up the Faderport is because sticking a punch pedal into the back of Digi LE hardware is really "poppy," it's real hard to get an invisible punch sans electronic static pop.
It's much quiter to just mark the spot on the track in the grid to start recording and just get a measure of pre-roll - this is not always the best musically, however. SO, I want a punch pedal, and the promise of a punch pedal just engaging the record in the transport should be a major-league improvement - but this needs to be enabled in the firmware update. Right now, it doesn't work. The Faderport itself creates NO noise when you engage record so I am psyched for the pedal jack. I'm also not convinced the LOOP or PUNCH buttons are reliable, they seem to have a mind of their own - and the READ WRITE TOUCH OFF so far for me - not so much. Enabling the WRITE mode on the software and using the fader on the Faderport for the write is awesome, especially since the faders with a mouse become impossible to adjust during a mix, they go to mud when you use a mouse in real-time. I mean, I have a twelve track mix I'm running right now and I have to stop the roll just to move certain faders without over or underkill (no WAY to do a write in real time) - so the Faderport solves that. It's so much easier to write accurate fader moves in real time. Next best thing to a console. As for the channel select bank, I've never used it so I have no idea. I also occasionally have a hard time getting the fader to assign to a track, but that's probably just me. If you go to the Presonus website - check the forum, email customer service, they will tell you about the firmware upgrade issues. I only know it's coming because I really want the pedal jack enabled - At first I thought it was broken so I ended up in email world with Presonus. |
