Default Wouldn't it be nice if.....

Digi would incorporate a function that would automatically place looping takes into new racks on the fly so you could see the waveforms and know immediately which ones to listen/compare and which ones to toss!

You set up to loop a section and record - each time it loops it automatically sets up another track and mutes the prior ones... you could set it up for 5 takes, 10 takes, whatever....

just programming!

it would be nice!

Ummm.. What you are describing sounds like playlist view, except without the inefficient idea of creating new tracks...

Have you experimented with playlist view?

You need to check the option in preferences to "automatically create new playlists when loop recording" or however it is spelled out..

Am I missing something here?

maybe... I'm suggesting a feature that would stack the tracks within the open session so you could see them all ... laid out

no need to pull an audio track into a session to compare... they'd all be there - one right after the other as you were looping someone struggling with a part- not having the last recorded region .... within the original track, but all takes completely separate

then you could loop the playback and scroll through them until you find the best take... then delete the rest and move on!

Are you suggesting playlist does this? I know not of what you speak

as it is now , I can loop record and get a couple of takes, then I select the "take" from the region list and drag it into the track at the appropriate spot, listen... then repeat to listen to another... time consuming

now that my exuberance has worn off....
I select playlits.... hit record... and it seems to record over the original track....

what fine point am I missing?

I notice the video referenced M-Audio... I hope that's not the disclaimer

You'll need to create a new playlist. Somewhere around the "playlist view" button (I think to the right just a bit) is an arrow where you click and can select "new playlist." Name it accordingly and it should slide your first recording down and allow you to record on a brand new playlist.
