Quote from the Sonic Solutions info:

"...NoNOISE for Pro Tools does not include all of the application features found in the SonicStudio version..."

Great. Next........

Sonic Solutions' NoNOISE noise reduction/restoration suite is a new option for noise reduction in PT:

Re: DINR... totally O.T.!!!!

At least you can use it for wacky effects by using it to process a reverb trail (the grainer the better, i.e. DVerb). Wild. Try it...

We use the Waves restoration bundle (primarily X-noise) and are generally very happy with it. You mentioned excessive room ambience. I've found that you actually *can* minimize some of the room ambience with Waves X-noise. It's not an optimal solution, but pushing the threshold & NR settings can yield this effect w/o too many artifacts.

Cedar is probably THE noise reduction.

A french standalone app. named AudioSculpt is a good contender for this and more. It looks like Cedar has cheated the same technique(more user friendly and added hardware processing) than AudioSculpt.

This is a serious app.!

Get a look at this link:

Speer-

That was totally a cheap shot. You left off the italics: "... all of the _application_ features found in the SonicStudio version.."

"_Application_ features" means that the NoNOISE operations don't appear in a special application menu and click markers don't get displayed in the application edit window. The spectral graph of the broadband denoiser also appears in the plugin and is not integrated into the application edit window. Instead, the plugin UI exists entirely in the plugin window, like it does in every other Pro Tools plugin.

On Sonic HD, NoNOISE is not really a "plugin". It is highly integrated into the application (somewhat like Beat Detective with Pro Tools), and it would be impossible, and undesirable, to make the user interface work exactly the same way in Pro Tools. You don't really want to have to submit batch jobs to a separate AutoSonic-like application, do you?

You still get the broadband denoiser, the manual declick algorithms, the decrackler, and the production declicker, as well as the Hi-Res filters (parametric, low shelf, high shelf, low pass, high pass, notch, bandpass, band stop, dc-blocking, emphasis, de-emphasis, RIAA, de-RIAA, with adjustable order for most filters).

Frederick

Did you try NoNoise vs Waves on (film) camera noise, my problem for the next weeks. The camera noise isn't very steady as a fan noise for instance...

I tried the Waves demo with rather good results, but i wouldn't buy it (rather expensive thing) before trying NoNoise.

thanks in advance for any info

gugu
