Default Built in sounds in midi keyboard

I am wondering if it is possible if I can set pro tools to record from the sounds which are built into my midi keyboard.

I have figured out the way to record sounds using virtual instruments.

However, I'd like to use some of the built in sounds in my midi keyboard.

Is this possible and does anybody know how to do this?

It would be a great help.

Thanks.

Plug the audio outputs of your keyboard into the audio inputs of your interface (MBox, 003, etc.). Create an audio track, assign its inputs to the inputs of your interface, and record. See page 357 of the Pro Tools 8 Reference Guide.

Is this possible with the Mbox 2 mini.

I have connected my keyboard connected by an edirol usb midi interface.

There is only Line/DI inputs and an XLR jack on the mbox 2 mini

if you only have 1 input, just record it mono.

audio out of keyboard > 1/4" cable > mbox mini

The Mini has two 1/4" inputs anyway, so why not:

keyboard stereo out -> two 1/4" cables -> input 1&2 of the Mini -> Pro Tools stereo track

If you are sequencing in pro tools then route the midi data to the keyboard, and record the subsequent audio back through the Mini.
