Default PT 8 download?

Just wondering how Digi is going to handle the download of PT8 MP for users that purchase the 7.4 upgrade with free PT8 upgrade? Isn't PT8 around 8 GB with all the samples?

Thats what i was wondering.

that is alot to just download.

maybe though...
Like for example with xpand!
you can download it off the website for free.
Maybe you download the software and then just go around the site and download the extra VIs and loops and such.

If not im sure you can order a DVD with everything on it for like 15 bucks

Thanks Digi. I understand the different purchase methods, I was just thinking of the actual download process from a users point of view. Is there going to be a download queue or is it just going to be very slow with all of the simultaneous downloads? I was just curious if we can expect to have to download in bits in pieces for multiple days or if you guys have ramped up the servers for this release?

Thanks,
J

The downloads will be hosted worldwide on multiple load-balanced Akamai download servers, not our internal servers, and will use their new download manager technology for secure downloads. This allows you to pause and resume downloads.

Also, a lot of the extra content included in Pro Tools 8 will be divided up into smaller individual downloads, rather than one enormous download.

We won't know that until it's finished, then qualified for release. Still a few weeks away, sometime in December (as it says in the Pro Tools 8 Information, at the top of the Compatibility & Upgrades page mentioned earlier in this thread).

Thanks Digi! Appreciate the answer, and looking forward to seeing the new look and features!
