I have an APS Firewire 16x10x40 Firewire CD burner. Works fine, but I have to use a different extension set with Firewire disabled if I try to boot with the unit turned off. That's a pain in the butt, but it may be an issue with the FIrewire format, in general.

Also, the drive is VERY noisy. Both the mechanism and fan are the loudest devices I've ever owned. I can't have it on when tracking, or mxing, as its way too distracting. I really wish someone would make quiet drives.

Other than the gripes above, the performance is very good. I use Toast 5 (Titanium) and haven't made any "coasters" yet.

Thanks Sortasonic and davidp158 for answering!
I wonder if you have the same problems as davidp158, with your La cie drive, Sortasonic?
I am actually interested in La cie (but also other drive if it
works...preferable better than APS....)
How about Yamaha (Firewire)? Thanks.
