Default EZdrummer no sound in pro tools 8

I'm sure this is operator error (ie me!) I've successfully loaded M-Audio Pro Tools 8 and EZ Drummer, both work fine independently. I drag and drop midi files into a midi track in protools, but I can't hear it. I realize that it sees the midi data, but I'm wanting to hear it played through the ezdrummer sound banks, if that makes sense. My system: Pent 4 HT, WinXp-Sp3, 2.8 ghz, 4GB SDram, IE 7, 500GB system drive, 1TB write drive. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

Do you have EZ Drummer as an insert on an Instrument Track in PT? Instrument Tracks (combined MIDI/Aux) are much easier to utilize than MIDI tracks.

Thanks for your reply. I'm a novice at this. I'm ashamed to say. I'm not even sure Pro Tools sees EZ drummer as a plug in.

Don't be so sure it's you. I'm having similar issues. I just wrote a support request to Toontrack because of some seriously weird stuff happening with EZdrummer as well.

Here is what's happening:

When using EZdrummer on an instrument track or an AUX track it will function for 2-5 min. and then all audio dies. I can see the midi information on instrument track (or on MIDI track -- I've tried both with no success) triggering the track, the meter jumps with the MIDI, I see EZdrummer being triggered, but no sound.

I think it has something to do with the audio engine communicating with Pro Tools or something. I'm running HD 8.0.4 and EZdrummer 1.2.1 so everything is pretty much up to date. Not sure what the issue is, but it's really frustrating. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Any one figure out a solution?

If you switch to a different drum set after loosing audio you get audio back (briefly) but it's not a permanent solution. Wonder if that means it has something to do with the sample engine since it works when you reload new samples back and forth?

HELP...

If you lose audio from a VI, toggle the input to the track to another Input or Bus.

I run into this with Kontakt Player 4.1, and only with Kontakt Player 4.1. I've had to delete the plugin, and reload the plugin with my settings (I make presets), then it works again for the entire session. If I make the track inactive, then want to go back to it and make it active I will have to do that remove and replace thing again. Only with Kontakt Player. So it's not just EZ Drummer.

Reason? Fine. Garritan? Fine.
