Default Is updating Plugins always going to ruin the joy..

..of a new Protools update?

Hunting down 3rd party updates is a drag and potentially crippling. Could digi do more to make this easier?

In a word.."Yes",
but then you'll lose sleep again when talk of all the features in P.T. 7 start and that temp. artificial feeling of joy will return!

I dunno - what's so hard about visiting web sites and finding out how you can get a new version of something you already owned that worked just fine before you upgraded?

Maybe you'll get an update for free, maybe you'll have to pay a little bit and maybe you'll have to wait until the software folks make the update available.

It doesn't seem like rocket science to me... I know I feel gracious when a company ports what I have already paid for to a new platform and gives me the stuff for free. This happens more than I'd expect, so I'm a happy camper. In most other situations, I'm happy to pay them a small fee for their effort porting something I owned for another system so I can use it on my new rig.

I guess it's a matter of perspective...
