have you tried this ?
"Session must be on an Audio record volume" - Workspace info - Avid Audio Forums
make sure your plugins are updated first too.

Not really sure what you mean?

My volume is definitely set to record volume.

I don't think that is really the issue since all im doing when it freezes is playing back. I understand the session backups and my frequent saves actually record to the volume but i would think i would see assertion errors before anything.

Im more concerned about a compatibility issue considering i just upgraded this whole system but thought I prepped and trouble shooted correctly.

Thanks

Send me the Log Files folder from inside your Pro Tools folder and indicate in the email which log is the one(s) that experienced the crash. Also include the thread number (278807) in the subject of the mail.

When you say Freeze and Crash, does Pro Tools just lock up...and crash. meaning quit...or do you get an error? whats the error number if you do

its spinning beach ball of death.... no error number.. sometimes it will spin and quit sometimes it just spins. I've let it sit for like 10 minutes before force quitting.

The program launches smoothly and quickly.... works normally for up to ten minutes and then vomits on itself as i have already mentioned.

I had that same problem and I reformatted my drive and cured it.
