Default Copy Automation between mono and stereo tracks

I just wanted to raise the question, maybe there's a plausible explanation for the impossibility to copy automation between mono and stereo tracks. Of course some parameters are different on mono and stereo channels, but why can simple curves not be copied between mono and stereo while at the same time you can copy curves of one parameter to another one (volume to send level, ...).
Thanks for any reply!
PS: I am not sure whether it is possible or not - I just cannot figure out how to copy automation mono <> stereo. Any help appreciated!
