Protools 10HD upgrade to from 9 is 999.99 ..... WHY

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who purchased in the last month or so and just misses out on the free upgrade, was it ever mentioned or were you ever warned that there was a $1k upgrade on the horizon and you wouldn't qualify for it?

No. My iPod classic and my iPhone 3G all run the latest versions that were free upgrades.

I think I'm going for it. All my stuff is RTAS so I have no loss in TDM investments.

I was going to get a UAD card but I figure this will be around for a few years so I'm betting on the future of AVID.

Yes, I'll fully admit that the HD Native users are not getting the best deal here. Hopefully, Avid will have a better upgrade option for those who decided to go Native.

When I bought my 003 rig I was told that version 8 would be out in about 6 months but I shouldn't need to pay for it. The dealer rang me back a few minutes later to confirm that this was true.

I sold my CPTK2 and 003 to upgrade to HD Native and a 192i/o only a short while ago. I really wish I hadn't...

Although HD Native has a couple of extra features and the ad/da conversion is better I don't need 64 i/o and an upgrade to HDX is unnecessary for my setup.

My 192i/o will need to be replaced when PT11 comes out and the $999 upgrade to PT10HD is over the top. Had I not moved to HD Native I could be using any 3rd party i/o and have gotten the PT10 update for $300, and gotten all the same features as PTHD10! I'm also now very weary of what future PTHD updates will cost...
