Bug: X-Form replaces clips with distortion
Hi all
Here's a nasty bug with X-Form that writes screeching digital distortion to processed clips. It's reproducible here with PT 10.3.6 and 10.3.7 under Windows 7 64-bit SP1 and with X-Form v902_71103 AudioSuite. Steps to reproduce: 1. Enable "Automatically copy files on import" and "convert copied files to session format" in PT preferences. 2. Create blank session with these parameters:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...AudioFiles.zip 4. Select both clips in the clip list 5. Open the X-Form plugin from the Audiosuite menu 6. In X-Form, use these settings:
8. Lower your monitor volume. 9. In the clip list, alt-click the processed version of the second clip ("Sound 2-XFrm-00"). Result: the processed clip contains screeching digital distortion. I haven't reported this directly to Avid. I asked previously whether support fees are refunded if an issue turns out to be a bug, but never got an answer.

Re: Bug: X-Form replaces clips with distortion
Consider it reported.
Thank you for the clear steps to reproduce. We tried this and didn't get distortion but did hit an error dialog. Do you get distortion every time you follow your steps? What if you use different audio files, such as sine tone generated with Signal Gen?

Thanks for posting and sorry for the slow reply. I just tried this again using stereo 44.1/24 audio files created with Signal Gen, and no, I didn't get the distortion. However the issue is repeatable here with stereo 44.1/24 audio files that were previously edited in Sound Forge (both the ones I uploaded earlier, and others I've tried of the same origin). Obviously within PT all the files are being processed as separate L/R files (because my session format is non-interleaved), so I'm not sure why they produce such different results after being separated into L/R. I should also add that if I drag my two original files to the timeline and try to apply the same X-Form settings to them in the playlist, rather than the clip list, I get this error: Quote:
Let me know if you need more info/testing from me.
