This may not be a ptle question, but I want to use it with my 001 set up.
So' does anybody know if a adat will work using the light pipe --so i can get the extra 8 in s and outs---IF the head needs replaced on the adat---the hours are high and needs a new head---but willl the converters still work for me to use the light pipe.
thanks

All the ADATs when in record arm will output whatever is coming in on the analog inputs to the lightpipe outputs. So all you need to do is:

plug the ADAT lightpipe ins and outs into the Digi001 card

set protools to 'optical' for sync

record arm your adat tracks[/list]
Bingo, you're in business. The only gotchas are if you are using a blackface ADAT is that you'll have to use 48k as your session sample rate, unless you can find out the magic key combination to set the blackface into 44.1k mode. It is possible but it has been so long I can't remember.

If you are using as ADAT XT or higher life is better, I personally would set the ADAT-XT to external sync and have the Digi001 interface as the master clock (internal clock mode). It also is easy to set the sample rate to 44.1k or 48k from the front panel on a dedicated button.

Cheers,
Marcus

PS. In future if you use a more descriptive subject header than 'Ok read this' i'm sure you'll get more responses.
