Default Dolby surround Tools

I just bought the plug in. The manual is relatively clear. However, I have one question: When I put a simple stereo music track, assigned to the Left and Right input of the encoder, I always get a lot of sound in the surround. Is this normal ? Is it possible to send something only in the left and right output ( and some center leak) but not in the surround ? There's a paragraph in the manual that talks about creating surround inetrior effects, by sending a bit of Left and Right information into the surround...I don't have to. I always get a lot ??

Default Re: Dolby surround Tools

Dolby Stereo is a four channel matrix system which (this is very, very simplified) works this way: it derives center and surround information from both Lt and Rt tracks (these are master Left and Right). If a signal is recorded on both tracks, and the phase between these two is 0°, then it will be decoded to center. If the signals on Lt and Rt are same level, but out of phase for 180°, it will be decoded as surround.
Consequently, you may conclude that your stereo mix either has a lot of out-of-phase information (e.g. reverbs, string pads, etc.), or there is a major phase problem between L and R. Check for these two cases before trying anything else.
