Default IRQ issues

I don't want to hijack "Beyond the Pale" thread, so I will reiterate this question on a new thread (even though it was the discussion on his thread that prompted me to ask)...

Quote:
You will want to disable the onboard audio and the LAN at the same time, and keep them disabled! If you really wanna know what's going on here, go to Start -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Info. Then check "IRQs." Are any IRQs being shared? If so, by what devices? Shared IRQs are a deathtrap for DAWs. With so many devices, I'm sure you've got some sharing going on...And ditch the extra CD-Rom drives!
I did this and found that IRQ 16 is being shared by my video card and a USB controller. I can't ditch either of these, what should I do to resolve this? Thanks.

Is the USB on a PCI card? Or the video? Try moving things to different PCI slots. Maybe post what you have for cards installed.

My video is AGP and my USB is on the board. I only have three cards installed. My video (currently a NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 model 64, but I just ordered an ATI Radeon 9550 128) is an the AGP slot. I have a modem on one PCI and the Digi 001 card on another PCI slot. I can't see how any of this would cause a conflict (but I'm no expert).
