It turned out OK.
Could have been a lot worse.
I still have lost 1/2 day that I had paid the musicians for.

No comment on should have been better prepared except, how can you prepare for a Tsunami question?
As I said, I could easily write 20 pages of why this should not have happened.
I choose not to.

Engineer had an 002 with a REPLACED harness.
So we used that.
I will check if it is not the harness.

One question...
Is 002 and 002R harness the same?

Glad you managed. Not sure if they're the same or not.

percussive maintainance will solve the problem in the short term.
(i.e. give it a whack!)

"clean the pins with a pencil eraser"- This can work remarkably well, but a better idea (and one that might prove a more permanent solution) is to get a can of Caig Pro-Gold contact cleaner and apply per the directions. This stuff is well known to work wonders on marginal contacts, not only cleaning them but also minimizing the formation of new gunk after the fact. If the contacts are really grungy, they have another product (the name escapes me at the moment) that is intended strictly for cleaning; no residual protective value. Hope this proves useful in fending off the power harness demon!

This reminds me of the pin connector problem on the first nintendo box.
