Default Distortion

Tonight, I momentarily switched from my Digi 002 to a Presonus StudioLive. (I wanted to test it with my D-Command.) The monitoring didn't seem to work at first, and I had work to do, so I switched it right back. That's when the distortion started. It's almost like PT is about 20 dB hotter than it was a few minutes ago. Even when I bounce files, the resultant waveform is now an almost solid rectangle... no dynamic range to speak of... and crazy distortion. Why?

Also: I attempted to throw out my pref files. I could not find any com.digidesign.plist (or anything obviously attributable to PT, Avid, DigiDesign) in my preferences folder. Is it normal now to have no pref files?

I just upgraded to PT10. That didn't fix the problem. It's still distorted. Arg.

Hi,

the name of the ProTools prefs file is "Pro Tools Prefs".

It is located at: HD/Users/your user account name/Library/Preferences/Pro Tools Prefs.

If you cannot see your user library folder, then keep alt key pressed while you click on "Go" within Macs menu bar.
