Dock knobs - replacing
Hi,
After 4 years the knobs in my Dock are almost unusable and need to be replaced. Anybody knows where can buy a new knobs? Any information - what knobs are needed excatly (numbers... symbol...), or what kind of different ones way fit and work properly - the look is not important... Eddie? Would you be so kind and help me with it? Avid Support offers me repairing but price for service is killing - better to buy a new unit... I have a brillant electronic guy in neighborhood so he could replace the knobs for me... |

Re: Dock knobs - replacing
Firstly what is wrong, the actual plastic knobs or the encoders underneath? Are they still working correctly?
A Dock Support Contract is $99, It includes shipping and advanced swap out so a really good deal. You would have to wait 45 days after taking it out though but get a full year of repairs. |

Re: Dock knobs - replacing
Well... The parameters do not follow the movements of the knobs, sometimes the displays are completely in the opposite direction. The first knob was repaired under warranty a year ago, and it is the only one that works almost properly. There is a film:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p_v...ew?usp=sharing Sometimes the action blocks completely, and sometimes the parameter goes in the opposite direction to the encoder movement for a while. Maybe looking at this video it doesn't seem so obvious, but ... I remember the encoder operation when the Dock was new - it was great. I was able to set every parameter very accurately faster than with the mouse and the automation line was stable. Anyway, when I sent the first encoder to the warranty service for repair, I bought a second new Dock for a trial and then returned it to the store - the operation of the encoders in this new one was also excellent, so ... we can rule out errors in the network, program, router, etc. The firmware is up to date, and I even tried to force to update anyway... |

Re: Dock knobs - replacing
OK, this is the encoders under the knobs, soldered to the board. Its rare that so many would fail like this.

Re: Dock knobs - replacing
Yes, that's weird ...
The Dock never left the studio table, and I'm the only user and care about equipment very much... My old artist mixes that I bought second hand are still working great... Anyway... What should I do now? |

Re: Dock knobs - replacing
The only thing I can suggest is put it on support and get a replacement. Sorry I wish I could be of more help.
