For what it's worth, I am probably moving to Windows when my 8 year old Mac Pro no longer cuts the mustard. Just don't see Apple playing in the pro field any more.

Apple is coming out with a new mac pro next year. 2018! That's why I am a windows guy. 5 years between updates. Are you kidding me!

Resurrecting this old thread, as it stands I already made the move to Windows - I thought I had double-checked all important plugins but Spanner had slipped.

This is actually quite a disaster as I use it a ton. So, any new alternatives that have surfaced or any news from Cargo Cult?

Thanks, but sadly no. Spanner is brilliant because it's a swiss army knife of all possible surround actions and fixes a lot of the shortcomings of PT's own implementation. It doesn't have any "intelligence" (and it doesn't need to, that's a job for other plugins like Halo Upmix and Penteo or what that DTS looks like).

Penteo can do some of the downconverting duties (and possibly Halo Downmix but I need to look into these), but not handy stuff like panning a preprinted surround stem differently without splitting into mono, or adjusting the levels of individual channels (I know a lot of these can be done with multi-mono trims or mono master faders, but it's so much slower and less intuitive).

It has also been invaluable with some plugins that have LCR out but the implementation bugs out (not sure if it's the plugins or PT's fault, the Schoeps plugin has this...)

I wish someone at least had a dumb "channel rerouter" with all possible in/out combinations from mono to 7.1.2 (or above), maybe with a square matrix for levels between in and out channels...?

And Justin was gracious enough to already reply to my email, but the news were bad, it's apparently likely that a win version won't be coming... Maybe if more people asked for it?

Sound Particles SpaceController seems to be it, suggested here. Just sent them a feature request for output level trims for individual channels tough - that might even happen compared to waiting for Avid to expand the Trim plugin to support other than multi-mono...
