Default Compressor for mastering

What compressor plugin do you guys like for mastering? (single or multiband)

I don't do a lot of mastering myself, but for demo's for example I have to both mixdown and mastering in most cases. I like the Waves C4, but do you have any other plugins you like for mastering?

Thanks!

For compression in the mastering phase, I usually use the waves linear phase multiband, a calculator, a pencil, my ears, etc... For final limiting I've been using the L2 but have lately been thinking of going back to an outboard limiter. (just a side note, I never master inside of PT. I personally feel that PT just isn't as well equipped for this task as some other programs are; there are very few analysis tools inside of PT or even available for use with PT that have the kind of resolution I desire when mastering)

Hmmm...

Try this order;
-whatever you have available
-whatever sounds best to your ears/project in question
-whatever delivers your desired results

Me, Myself and I...hardly use plugins...outboard SSL buscompressor or Summit DLC or TC Finalizer Plus or Studer D19 soft limit or...whatever I can borrow.
In WaveLab though I'll often employ L1 or L2 before the final burn.

cheers,

I agree with that, always the right order to see what is available and listen what sounds best But it is always nice to know what else you can find out there....

Slightly off topic: What is the main difference between those Waves Linear Phase EQ's and the Q- or REQ EQ's? I am not familiar with the Masters Bundle from Waves.

A linear phase vs. frequency response when the input is compared to the output.

the C4 is good, just dont fall into the trap of letting it control you--ie those presets can mess up your mixes something quick

took me a long time to use this plugin the way i like. and remember, as person much wiser and more experienced than myself once said, mastering is all about monitoring. (and stop being lazy, go fix it in the mix and rebounce it:)
