Says that Intel 845/845E/845me are supported, I have a 845G it seems. Can you give me a straight answer please? I'm not very computer savvy.

We have had mixed results with the Pavilion models, and as such have never specifically qualified or recommended them.

Your report lists "Micro-Star International Co Ltd (MSI) 82845G/GL/GV" so we need to know if it is indeed an MSI (or Intel) and what specific model.

Can you run one of the utilities on the http://www.digidesign.com/compato/xp/mypc page to get more specific info? http://www.cpuid.org/cpuz.php is another utility that should identify the chipset.

Thanks!

Ran CPU-Z, says its Intel i845G (Rev. A1) chipset. Not letting me Copy/Paste the results from CPU-Z though.

I have my Computer about 3 feet away from my Microphone and although my Recording room has Acoustic absorbers or whatever they are called. I'm worried that a constant load on my machine will cause a constant noise that will show up behind my vocals. Could try cutting the low Freq's after recording to get rid of some noise, but I'de rather stop the problem before it starts, even if that means a different interface.

The 845G is currently untested, so we're not sure if it would work or not. We would strongly recommend getting a tested and qualified chipset, as this will significantly reduce the possibility of problems.

You might want to check out the Best Desktops for Windows and Pro Tools LE thread for more information from users on the computer models they are getting the best performance with.

I wondering if I should buy a computer I found for a good price. This PC has that EXACTLY same possessor and chipset, it seems you have:

Intel Pentium 4, with Intel i845G (Rev. A1) chipset

I cant seem to find any info if this is compatible with pro tools, but its obviously been some years and you're probably tested it so...

DOES IT WORK?

:)

With the number of system parts that are documented as working, building your own would be a much smarter investment. An old P4 single core is a boat anchor next to even my lowly dual core listed below. If I were given the machine for free, I would feel free to try it out but I would not spend my money on such old technology. If it does work, you still need more RAM and a second hard drive for audio anyway.
