Default Bounce to disc problems

When mixing a session, I normally like to to have my bounce-to-disc destination as my desktop instead of the session's audio files folder.....but now all of the sudden I can't bounce to the desktop and keep getting a message that says 'Macintosh HD not an audio playback volume'....the message is coming from ProTools as it has an PT icon next to it.......I checked my disc allocation and it is properly set to my external drive........can anyone offer a suggestion as to what's happening here and how to fix it? The bounce works fine going to anywhere on the external drive but not to the desktop of the G5!!
Thanks,
Scott

When you are saving to the desktop you are saving to your boot drive not your external.

It is a bad idea to save anything of value on the desktop. If you have a serious crash you will lose whatever is there.

Don't know exactly what causes that message, however it is not recommended that your system drive and audio drive be the same location, so your external drive is still the best location for the bounce.

Point well taken but I've been bouncing to the desktop for over 3 years....dragging the file into iTunes and burning CD demos....I did notice that my 'disc allocation' options no longer show my 'boot' drive as being a choice to record audio to....even though I don't....it used to be listed as an option to set the allocation to....maybe therein lies the issue.....but....!!!!
