On one track and one track only, the mute button will not stay off. I turn it off and it immediately comes back on during playback. I've never seen this before. Just started using ProTools 10.0 today.

Excellent call. That's what happened. Strange that in 10 years of using Pro Tools it's never happened before. I had just tried adding a new track and copying the the first region and was having the same trouble. Now I see that it's because the mute automation traveled with it.
Thanks! |

This happens to me all the time. The best way to fix it is just to disable mute automation altogether. To do this, select the Mute automation lane on any track, and then option-command-click the automation lane selector (which should currently say "mute"). It will turn grey and you will have disabled reading and writing of that automation parameter for the whole session. This works with any automation lane, btw.
