Thanks, Chris, for taking the time to explain further. I do understand the functionality now.

In terms of the interface, I still think the placement of the MIDI mute button next to the MIDI input device is misleading for a newbie (since it mutes MIDI out, not MIDI in, as it were).

But yes, I see how the functionality you describe would be useful in a session. Thanks again.

I agree with for the most part. Unfortunately MANY features in Pro Tools could be and ARE confusing/misleading to a newbie. It is an DEEP and complex program, which obviously it has to be to satisfy the professionals in many areas (music, TV, film, etc.).
