Default Pro Tools LE & Mixing on The Go

Hey Guys,

I currently have a Digi 003 Rack and Pro Tools LE 7.4, but about to upgrade to PT8.

I have an hour train trip each way to work during the week and would like to do some work in PT on the train. As I understand it I need Digi Hardware to get PT to run, is there a way around this? I don't really think carrying the 003 Rack would be an option :)

If I do have to get another interface (minute I hope), is there a way to buy it separate from the software seeing as how I already have a licensed copy??

Ta

Willo

Digidesign's interfaces (like the MBOX2 Micro, which seems to be the one for you, as guitar486 said) always come with the PT software bundled.

Ta Guys,

I knew it came bundled as I already have the 003. Although it is common knowledge that nothing comes for free in general terms. So I'd say there is a cost component of both hardware and software bundled into the price. As I already have both hardware and software but I want to use pro tools oon the go, I'd like to know of a way to either use PT without additional hardware or if I have to buy another Interface, buy it without that factored in software price.

No way around using a Digi device to run PTLE, and no way to buy an Mbox Micro without the software. That's pretty much that on that.

Like everyone has said... you NEED a hw interface like the micro.. which is pretty convenient I must say.

You might want to look on eBay for an old MBox or something. You can find people selling the original MBox without the software. I don't know if it would have any compatibility issues with newer versions of Pro Tools, but you could look into it.

Anyways, just type MBox in eBay and see what they have. It isn't as small as a flash drive, but far more portable then the 003.

I keep the Mbox mini in my laptop case and love having it around. I can't do tons on my laptop but it's nice being able to do tedious editing on trips when I'm away...

One more thing, PT 8 would be coming with a new micro and you could put it on both machines making your purchase a LOT more attrative!

Could you please elaborate. Are you saying a newer version of the Micro itself or just that it now ships with PT 8 rather than 7.4?

Can anyone tell me what this Micro Interface is? Will it do that same as the MBox Micro eg:- allow pro tools to run?

Cheers

Willo
