Digi 002 in to a digi 002
I have a new amp book pro but it only has one firewire port. I have one digi 002 rack already but I have a chance to get another. Can I put the 2nd digi 002 into the 1st digi002 or do I have get a 2nd firewire port?

Re: Digi 002 in to a digi 002
There are much better ways to get more ins and outs than adding a second 002 anyway. Dump one and buy a Presonus D8 would be my suggestion(and that won't cost you a dime).

Re: Digi 002 in to a digi 002
Couldn't you use one as the interface and the other for more inputs and then send those to the first via light pipe?

Nope... Not without using two computers, anyway.

Re: Digi 002 in to a digi 002
Actually, it is very possible to use 2 digi's simultaneously on one computer.
I have done it, and got some excellent recordings i must say. The trick is to simply route the firewire out of the first Digi 002 into a FW to AES converter (in bypass mode, of course)...and then patch that to into a ADAT machine (in record mode - but not necessarily recording on tape), feed the adat lightpipe output into the second Digi 002 which is hooked up parallel to the computer via serial interface, and then simply set Pro-tools to exteral sync mode. Plug your second Digi 002 into your "amp book pro", and you are golden like a 7. You can only get 16 bit this way, but it doesn't even matter if you bounce it all down in the end to a 4 track casette machine for extra "punch". You can find these adaptors at Radio shack, or even home hardware these days. Cheers, |
