PT8 - Pitch 'n Time LE and Time Shift - very slow to operate

Pro Tools M-Powered 8 / Leopard 10.5.5 / MacBook Pro

Using Pro Tools 8 - Excellent!!! - but:

I've tried using Pitch 'n Time LE in the TCE tool to stretch audio.
It's now taking a very long time to work.

Time Shift is also very slow, but I haven't used it before, so I'm not sure how fast it was in PT7.

Are other people finding the same problem?
I'll also put this on the Serato forum.

Yeah, I downloaded the demo a couple years ago and loved it, but it's way too expensive to buy.
Unless I win the lotto, I'll continue to use the weak TCE algorithms in ProTools.
