Default changed files in external editor- not showing in PT

some of my fave plugs are AU ( returning to protools after a looong break )

I use an external editor to edit the files destructively,.

but when I flip back to Protools the files arent updated - I have to close the session and re open it before hte changes are recognised..

recalculating waveform didnt help either!

is there a way to force this to happen?

thnx!
