Default Core-audio & Apple\'s Soundtrack ...?

In the compatibility docs Final Cut Pro and Garageband are listed but not Soundtrack (which is now included in FCE). Why can't I record using 002r with Soundtrack. Am I missing something?

Man, I've been all over the web ... every soundtrack forum I could find ... digi's answerbase, installed core audio. uninstalled core audio ... etc, etc, etc ....

Apple has this on their website .... but digi ain't talking ...

Surprisingly, Kling3's post is dated Feb 05 ... why in God's name can't someone answer this question ... certainly, we cannot be the only digi users who own FCE ....

While you should be able to record using Soundtrack, it has not been specifically tested, which is why it is not listed in the compatible applications list.

Soundtrack gets it's settings from the Sound control panel in your System Preferences panel - make sure it's set to Digi HW and you should be able to record and play back in Soundtrack.

If you're using Core Audio 6.4 or earlier, you will need to add Soundtrack to the supported applications list.

Believe me, Digidesign CoreAudio DOES NOT WORK with Apple's SoundTrack ... I've spent the past 4 days testing every version of CoreAudio ... on six different machines ... once you select record, you get this error:

ERROR: Recording Alert ... Failure occurred when preparing the device (null) ...

Sure, you can select the mBox or 002 in the sound ctrl panel ... however ... SoundTrack likes the 2 ch 16 bit ... you can play SoundTrack thru & monitor ... but absolutely no RECORDING ... not in this house ...
