Hi guys.. first post.. luckily, i've had an mbox with a laptop running on PT6.1 for over a year, and only had the occasional H/W buffer errors.. it's been going relatively smooth up until now:
With no changes in anything (what i can think of) Protools loads the startup screen, but as soon as i go to open a session, it loads it up, freezes for a few seconds, then the whole program closes and goes back to the desktop.. so i've tried a couple of things: upgraded to pt6.4, reverted back to service pack 1, erased a bunch of stuff (thought it could be lack of HD space)... but nothing works... as said, this came all of a sudden... if anyone can help, i would be much obliged... |

Are you able to create a new session successfully?

You may think you reverted to SP1, but I recall hearing/reading someplace that it isn't that easy to get rid of - there are remnants no matter what you do.
I know I seem to be the only one around here that believes in this (much to my chagrin), but have you tried system rollback?

finally, thanks for your replies... first of: no, not even a new session works... neither does opening a session outside protools, and having it start up.. second: a system rollback... wow, is that really necessary... won't i lose some installed stuff that way?
thanks again for your replies... and keep them coming, kind of in a rut here... |

OK,
Try trashing the digidesign database folder on your C: drive and then restart the computer. Try trashing your preferences. Which laptop do you have? Please post your full system specs. regards, Digidesign Technical Support |
