Default lucid vs apogee?

Just a quick question, I need to get 2 channels of solid 24 bit a/d and was planning on getting the rosetta, but wanted to see if anyone had been using the lucid convertors as an alternative, and what they thought..Thanks,

ryland

I have a PSX-100 and think it's a very good piece of gear, very flexible (a swiss army knife) it sounds good too and a very stable word clock, but after having a Lucid 9624 side by side using them simultaneously, the Lucid has a much more open top end, it's a more modern sound to me,it captures a bit more air to it. Apogee stuff does have a kind of 1k bump to it.
Bang for the buck Lucid is a great deal, but not as flexible as the PSX.

But what one is more accurate? I want accuracy in a convertor! Is this air thing a boost in high frequency detail?

I dont think that the lucidn ad9624 simply boosts the top end. It sounds more open to me in a way that eq cannot achieve. THe sound is also more spacious. I attribute this to the low level detail of the unit, and reverb is basically low level detail.

THen you have the smooth velvety sound that it provides and the pinpoint detail that you get especially in a 20+ track mix.

Don't forget that ted fletcher also prefers it to the apogee
