Default upgrading to pro tools 9 from 7

a few years ago i purchased an mbox 2 with pro tools LE 7.0. i have since forgotten my login info for avid. i would like to upgrade to protools 9 but how can i go about this? can i upgrade straight from LE version 7.0 to 9? or better yet, what is the best way to get my setup running on windows 7 professional? any info would be appreciated.

You should be able to use your Mbox serial number to get the discounted PT9 crossgrade. Hopefully, its the full installer( I think it is). If that's the case, then you won't need any earlier version installed(since you can't install ver. 7 anyway). You will need to have(or buy) an iLok.

do i buy an ilok before or after purchasing the upgrade. and wont i need to remember my old registration info to set up the ilok? also how can i know for sure the crossgrade will work? is there a way for me to find out before i purchase the wrong software?

Yes, you can go from PT7 to PT9.

Pro Tools 9.0 Updates
The following are the most recent updates for Pro Tools 9. Pro Tools 9 requires your Pro Tools 9, Pro Tools HD 9, or Pro Tools HD 8.5 (HD Native) iLok authorization to launch.
