Default Avid Mojo SDI Help

Hey guys, just a quick one to see if anyone might be able to help with an idea or suggestion.

Have hooked up a Mojo SDI to a Mac Mini Server (10.7.4, Pro Tools 10.2). I am unable to get the video out of firewire with the message

"Pro Tools Could not find a video device connected via FireWire. Check the connection of the video device and make sure it is powered on"

The Mojo is connected on it's own firewire bus by itself. It updated the firmware successfully when initially connected to the computer. It has the latest Avid Video Drivers installed. The computer can see it in its system report, and if i disconnect it whilst Pro Tools is running, Pro Tools will mentioned that is has been disconnected. The Avid Video Engine initializes successfully on Pro Tools boot. I can see the colour bars on Mojo launch on my monitor... AND i am out of ideas on how to get it to work...

So if anyone has a suggestion please let me know

Is the mojo the only firewire device connected?

Mac mini server with server software disabled. Runs pro tools perfectly well. And the only device on the FireWire hub and computer. Someone mentioned 10.7 may not work with mojo.l. Any confirmation?

Hi Matt, working fine here on 10.7.4 and PT10.2HD (on a Vanilla Mojo, but also tested on an SDI). Did you install the Avid Video Engine?

I have had instances where the mojo wouldn't initialise properly, and you have to physically disconnect the mojo from the PSU, unplug the firewire reconnect the mains and then the firewire and then restart PT. This was a v8 problem mainly.

Have you created a video track or tried the video test session in your applications folder?

cheers

Alright! Video test session works! It would seem that my problem would be my video codecs running. I normally run sessions in H264 which I know can be buggy, but I can't even get DV25 to work...

So where to go from here? I normally convert videos using Streamclip... The test session had a .omf video which I imagine was actually mfx... suggestions?

Question Re: Avid Mojo SDI Help

I stopped using Mojo SDI with Pro Tools v8. H.264 is bad for Mojo. You want AVID DV25 (.mxf) media or .mov files with the DV codec. Do you have either of those wrappers on media that you know worked before the system upgrade?

Thanks Chief... I am comfortable transcoding out of my h.264 video files, however DV25 Quicktimes do not work.. with Apple DV or Avid DV codecs. It seems the only video that seems to work is the .omf in the test session.

I think if I could successfully convert files to a .mfx wrapper, it would probably work. But this doesn't seem like an easy thing to do...

I just came across the Mojo SDI (it was lying around unused, thought it would be a nice find!) so I haven't any previous media which worked with it. Maybe the thunderbolt Blackmagic Intensity shuttle will be a better solution...

Thanks for the help guys, if anyone has any other ideas feel free to throw them at me!
