Do you have Time Machine running in the background?
What is Time Machine please Fakir? Is it like Doctor Who's tardis thing? Can I go back in time and stop my fingers presssing the wrong keys? Cor I just had a great idea for some new Avid software, see you attach electrodes to the user's fingers and ZAP em if they are going to press something terminal

Time Machine is a nice built-in backup software on Macs, which, despite being recommended to be switched off on PT machine, can sometimes save your butt. But since you are on Windows and I missed that information, never mind, my bad.

Btw, AVID Tardis would be cool! However, it would be most likely a violet box, not blue...

This backup really saved my bacon the other day... The backups themselves are minuscule in value and size, compared to however many ungodly hours you may have spent working on something.....

I realise now what I actually did to destroy the file-see Pro-tools did not at all like the ungodly nature and the sheer horribleness of my music, so the developers have written secret code in to the program to terminate ANY music which does not meet the approval of the CEO, as he doesn't want to be associated with anything to do with Ted Nugent or Martin "Dick" Dastardly -Aston (me) as Avid's name will be brought in to disrepute....

However my dastardly plan of making back-ups afore the "execution" algorithm kicks in has foiled the developers, he he, and I eventually completed the projects which "Magic I.D" tried to scupper, me hearties, if you want to know what all the fuss and panic is about, go here:

Great Sparky.

Now make a habit of regular session backups and system drive images. Sooner or later, you'll be glad you did.

Yes but I was a completely silly sausage and turned off my auto-backup function

Is the file corrupt? Is it retrievable? Gulp.

Win 7 64 bit, Intel Quad 3.00GHz, 8Gb RAM, Readyboost is in use also
I have repro'd this issue in the past. It always seems to be when PT is in the midst of a save and something interrupts it. Bsod would do it 100% of the time. I am guessing you had issues starting before you got on YouTube and it compounded.
