Cannot open document after upgrading to 2021.7.0 accidentally clearing projects

So I still have my Project Cache folder with saves and backups in it. But after upgrading a point release from 2021.6 I think to 2021.7 and accidentally clicking the "clear project cache"? option I think with the installer, it blew away my project sessions so I can't access them under Recent.

I've tried renaming the .ptxl files to .ptx and opening them, that didn't seem to work. I'm not sure if recovering individual tracks is easy, that would be fine. I tried "Convert Session..." on the backup and the main .ptxl, and I also tried importing various files to a new session but that didn't seem to do the trick either.

The error message that shows is some version of "Cannot open document" or "Cannot find <backup file name>".

You may want to consider moving to the full PT from PT First. First was never meant for serious work.

Good to know. Currently in the process of migrating to Cakewalk...seems to do the basics of what I need for now with step sequencer, recording, virtual instruments/VST plugins...and saving things seems less hectic

I tried installing the 2020.9 version even....still the document error issue or a project warning me about a missing backup file. Might not be salvagable at this point?

Keep in mind that Cakewalk is no longer supported by the developer I believe (could be wrong though).
