Default What analog mix bus do you guys use (that don\'t mix in pt)

I got some great results by mixing through an old Amek board. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get a good mix. Everything had it's own space without having to fight with eq's etc.

Anyhow, I am wondering what my alternatives are?

I was looking at the API 8200 that looks pretty good,

also, I have been looking at the dangerous, 2bus as a possible alternative

Anyone tried these?

I'm using the DBLT and like the result. I agree that it seems easier to get good mixes quicker when using stems from PT...

Just bumping this up as I thought I would get a better response. Does this mean that you are pretty happy with the mix bus in protools HD?

Thanks

If you're happy with the Amek, why not get a used Amek board ?? They are giving those away nowadays..very cheap !!!
Having the chance to mix a few project on bigger ( and MUCHO more expensive ) analog console and owning a Paris and ProTools HD system myself. I still don't buy that analog summing is necessarely better than DAW summing.
Anyways, we're working on an artist right now where the final mix done in PT HD was chosen over its analog version ( done on Neve and SSl ).
Again, it's all down to who is behind the wheels. If your mix sucks in PT/Paris, i REALLY dought by using a top of the line analog board, the result will be any better !!!

Thanks for the comments, but my PT mixes didn't exactly suck, in fact they sounded great.

However, when I compaired them with the mix from the Amek (in the same listening environment) there was a pretty obvious difference.

It just seemed that everything was much more separated in the Amek mix right off the bat and I didn't have to mess around with eq's etc to get a good balance.

The PT mixes took me about 6-8 hrs per song, whereas the Amek mixes only took about an hour each.

Then i guess the answer is pretty obvious in your case..get an Amek. There are so many great tools out there that will get the job done. You just have to decide what's best for YOU.

I found using 16 outputs to the D2B, helped me get rock kick drums to finally punch through within my mixes..
