No HD-IO on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1
Hi!
Today I‘ve installed my used MacPro 2019, that comes with Sonoma. My ProTools is 2018 Ultimate and I use an HDx-Card with 4 HD192 on it. ProTools ultimate is running. But the HD-Card and the IOs are not to find. On the support-page from avid I’ve see that I should use the HD-Driver 2023.3, because the newest drivers didn’t run. But that configuration also not run. Any ideas? Kind regards Mike |

Re: No HD-IO on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1
It seems a bit ambitious. Pro Tools 2018 isn't officially supported on any of the MacOS versions that a 2019 Mac Pro supports (Pro Tools 2018 stops at OSX 10.13. A 2019 Mac Pro starts at 10.15). Maybe someone else has some greater knowledge on this, but I would have also assumed that HD Driver 2023.3 was only qualified and intended to work with versions of Pro Tools from 2023.3 onwards.
Did you get a security prompt to 'allow' Avid drivers when installing the HD driver? Was there any prompt when starting Pro Tools to update the firmware on the HDX card? There have been quite a few firmware updates associated with big changes like the Hybrid Engine and Apple Silicon and the removal of anything 32 bit, none of which were required in Pro Tools 2018. There are a bunch of documents on the Avid website about 'HDX card not being recognized'. If none of those work, you might have more luck rolling back to OSX Catalina on your Mac to use a 2018 or 2019 version of the HD Driver. Or it might be easier to update Pro Tools 2018 to a current version.

Re: No HD-IO on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1
Ok, thank you.
My problem is: I use a D-Control (black) as controller. And the 2018 Ultimate is the last version, that support the D-Control. Or not? That‘s why I don’t want to update my Protool-Version to a newer one… Regards Mike |

Re: No HD-IO on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1
It should work just fine with newer versions. I’m still using a D-Command that hasn’t been supported since 2018 with Pro Tools 2024.3. The only exception is Apple Silicon computers. The ICON series won’t work when Pro Tools is running natively on Apple Silicon.

Ok, thank you.
An Intel Mac is no problem for D-control combined with a newer PT-Version? Good, my Mac is an intel. |
