Default Error when trying to start Pro Tools SE

Hello, I just purchased a Fast Track Pro and have problems when trying to start Pro Tools SE.

Here is the error I'm getting:

The procedure entry point ?SetTitle@TApplication@@UAEXABV@basic_string@DU?$c har_traits@D@std@@V?$allocator@D@2@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library DFW.dll

The file DFW.dll is in the correct directory.

I'm installing the latest drivers which came on the CD with the Fast Track Pro, 6.0.7.

I'm installing the current version of Pro Tools SE and Pro Tools Essential.

I've got a mouse and a keyboard plugged in to usb ports besides the Fast Track Pro.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 580, with 6 gig of ram.

Default Re: Error when trying to start Pro Tools SE

Ok, found the problem with the help of the Avid support folks. First, I installed both Pro Tools SE and also Essential, because both discs came with the product. It turns out, you can only install one. There was a conflict with the dfw.dll file apparently since they were both installed.

So, if anyone else has this problem, here's the resolution. Uninstall both. I did this by using the install cd's and selecting uninstall.

Then, follow these instructions.

To delete Pro Tools preference files in Windows 7:

* Go to your Start menu and click on Computer.
* Double-click on the C: drive.
* Double-click on Program Files.
* Go to the Common Files folder.
* Go to the Digidesign folder.
* Go to the DAE folder.
* Right-click on the DAE Prefs folder and delete it.
* Go back to your C: drive.
* Double-click on Users.
* Double-click on your user name.
* Go to the AppData folder.
* NOTE: If the Appdata is not showing, click on Organize and choose 'Folder and Search Options'.
* Click on the View tab.
* Select 'Show Hidden Files and Folders'.
* Click Apply and OK. AppData should now be viewable.
* Go to the Roaming folder.
* Right-click on the Digidesign folder and delete it.

Then, install either one or the other. I did Pro Tools SE and it now starts successfully.

Thanks, Avid support!!!!!
