Time Shift Plug-In fps change
What do you think about the results of the Avid "Time Shift" (stock) Plug_in performing a Film to PAL (Maintain Pitch) +4,1667% change on a 5.1 theatrical Mix (classic live action film)?
Would you do that? Or do you recommend another workflow?

Re: Time Shift Plug-In fps change
Get Elastique Pitch and/or Elastique AAX. Process on stems, not a full mix.

First do a straight SRC (with no pitch correction) to maintain 100% sync. Create a new session and import the stems with SRC and the preset that applies to your setup. This will "varispeed" SRC the stems to the desired length which will be 100% sync. After that do a pass of pitch correction to taste (Elastique or TimeFactory II are the best IMO). Often you can get away with less than the 100% depending on the stem ans type of content. Depending on the project often correcting the music and DX stem is fine.

Re: Time Shift Plug-In fps change
Ok. Thanks guys!
@Frank: What tool would you recommend for the SRC and the later pitch correction?

Re: Time Shift Plug-In fps change
Elastique AAX will take care of everything, but do it in 2 separate internal processes, but the end user it looks like one process.
There's also Elastique V2 which only deals with pitch. For SRC fisrt import your stems, but tell Pro Tools that the files are 46,080 Hz (24 - 25) or 50,000 Hz (25 - 24). This is assuming your originals are 48KHz. That will take care of the speed change. Then use Elastique to correct the pitch. |

1) import stems (import session data or import file) with SRC option on and select preset and check sync with head and tail pops. 2) correct pitch to taste with whatever you like best. Elastique and TimeFactoryII are proven workhorses for that that don't mess up phase and sync. I prefer the 2-step process as I always have one 100% bang-on sync reference to compare to if I need to go back or compare the result.

Re: Time Shift Plug-In fps change
I'm *almost* certain that's how it works anyway - can try and find the documentation.
