reason 3 not showing up in pro tools 8 instrument list

Hello,
This problem is driving me mad. Reason 3 not showing up in pro tools 8 instrument list. I just upgraded from a G5 and os 10.5.8 to a Mac pro 3,1 and os 10.6.4. This seems to be a common problem. I have researched this exhaustively and nothing seems to work. I am a very experienced DAW used. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Two things to check: is R3 compatible with OSX 10.6.4 (which is not the last version of SL - that would 10.6.8)? In your RTAS plugins folder do you have the digirewire.dpm plugin?

Are you running in 32 or 64 bit mode for OSX 10.6.4? Try switching modes (Google is your friend for finding that out if you don't know how to).

Remember that R3 is over 10 years old at this point and predates SL by a whole bunch.
