Default Moving audio clips

KRAZY.
Let's say i have a vocal track. A clip is 5 seconds long. I want to move the clip several measures to the right.
I highlight the clip with my mouse...as I have done for more than 20 years... ha.....
As I slide my mouse to the right.... a "shadow copy" of the short clip appears BELOW the track the clip is actually on....
Therefore I cannot move the clip accurately because the "shadow" is on a different track and it's also not synchronized with the audio clip...
I am attaching a photo so you can hopefully understand what I'm attempting to describe.

I have tried every setting imaginable on every menu tab but nothing corrects this.

Layered editing was not selected.
So I selected it and it made no difference.

Thanks

Windows is updated.

PT doesn't do this weird "audio clip shadow" on every project / song.

Originally it only happened on one older song I started working on again.

But then... I started a new project / song....and this "shadow" thing is happening.

I tried EXPORTING / BOUNCING each individual track to create a NEW audio track....but that doesn't help.

Oof I remember PT 12 having quite a few updates. But it's old enough I won't be able to help... Too many versions ago I don't remember the bugs.

Maybe a locked clip, or a stick modifier key on your keyboard(just last week, my Alt key got stuck and had me confused for a bit).

Perhaps in Grid mode and the grid is set to some large amount?

I can't think of a reason it would be offset from the track boundaries. Looks like it's between two tracks.
