Default MENACING DILEMMA! CMD 8 + HD3

Helllo again,
I have aproached you guys with this same problem not tot long ago.

So basically I have an HD3 system,
and i wanted to open up a studio in my apartment.
You know, make some cash for producing some pseudo hip-hop and what-not.
So i bought a Command 8, you know...FOR LOOKS
and for the ease of automation, blah blah blah

I CAN NOT GET THIS THING TO WORK WITH PRO TOOLS!!!

my 192 I/O says that there is output on channels 1 and 2.
so i have a snake running out of the digital Out of the I/O

INTO THE COMMAND 8, right?

I have XLR to 1/4 converters on the ends of the snake, into the mixer
but no matter where i Put line 1 and 2,
whether it's the input, or the output
NO SOUND is coming out of my monitors!

I'm a certified pro tools engineer, SO I SHOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO!
and i don't!

This is stalling me from opening up the studio! And I know it's probably so simple. I think I've tried everything!

Thank you everybody, in advance.

I don't know if I'm understanding... sorry but i'm not english. are you connecting the DIGITAL out of your 192 with the ANALOG input of the C8 monitor section? if I'm understanding right... you are not right!!! you have to connect the ANALOG out 1-2 of your 192 to the monitor input section of the C8, and the ANALOG out of your C8 to your monitors. sorry for my misunderstanding if you wrote different things...

I'm with the second poster, in that it sounds like you are trying to run your 1&2 outputs from the Digital I/O card on your 192 I/O into the Analog inputs on your C|8.

I have an HD2 system with the C|8 and I do the following:

1. Analog outputs 1&2 go to the main inputs (L&R respectively) on the C|8 (with XLR to TRS converters).
2. Main out (L&R) go directly to my powered monitors.

This setup works fine for me. If it is not working for you check:

1. The analog outs on you 192 I/O are plugged into the main inputs on the C|8. There is another pair of inputs for an external audio source.
2. Check in the hardware settings in PT that your main outputs are 1&2 analog on your 192 and check that your session is routing to those outputs.
3. Check that the Mute button or the External button are not lit up on your C|8.

If your setup still isn't working, try plugging a synth or something into the main inputs on the C|8 and turn on the demo song and see if you can get sound to your monitors.

The Command/8 is a midi over usb device. The audio inputs are for monitor only. They didn't cover this in your certification classes?
