Default can\'t get LE 7.1 free? just paid for 7.0

Why can't I get LE 7.1 with 48 tracks free? I just paid for 7.0 & I don't need DV-Toolkit. Maybe I'm jumpin the gun, maybe LE 7.1 standalone will be free.

7.1 will be a standard program upgrade. It does not contain the 48 track update.

The 48 track update is part of the Music Production Toolkit.

The 48 track update is part of the DVToolkit 2.

Both Toolkits will have 7.1 included, but 7.1 itself does not contain the 48 tack update.

Correct - and there are several other benefits of the two Toolkits - extra plug-ins, multitrack Beat Detective, etc. IMO, $500 is not too much to ask for all of that... and if they knock $100 or so off for those of us who recently purchased PT LE 7, that's even better.

Yes, the mp3-option is something you normally had to pay for and the new hybrid synth, but since Smack and DINR was offered the last time and many got them then, there ought to have been another offer for those two...
There are many developers right now, who seem to choose the road of a "basic product" and then adding extensions. If you go back and read past threads you will see MANY users who offered to pay for the extra tracks - they got what they asked for... My only commentary is that it should have been explained to us when the 7.0 upgrade was presented, that this one was just around the corner!

I see where you're coming from, but I just don't see it quite the same way. The major version upgrades are usually about $75 for people who have had the hardware for a while. Add an extra $25 and we got to add two plug ins that cost more than the $100 upgrade anyway. And personally, I'm happy to pop down $400 for those added features in the Music Production Toolkit. Even if I did just get a couple of the plugs with my last upgrade. I'll still be getting all the tracks I need (actually 32 is "do-able" for me - YMMV), multitrack BD, the MP3 option, Hybrid, the convo verb, etc.

But I do hope that they eventually give us LE users a bit more I/O expansion capability. About the only things I miss from my Logic Audio days (beyond some esoteric MIDI power user features) are the lack of MIDI notation and the ability to send 32 channels of lightpipe back to my digital mixing board. I can get by with 18 inputs, but if they gave me the ability to run a 002R along with my 002 on the same PC for more simultaneous outputs, I'd buy one that same day.

Indeed. This is my main problem with this package. I have DINR and Smack! from the 7.0 upgrade and I most certainly would have waited for this upgrade had I known it was coming. I guess that is not a good idea from a business point of view though. In this case Digidesign can sell both products because I imagine that a great many of us (who bought the 7.0 Plus upgrade) will also purchase the Music Production upgrade. From a consumer's point of view it looks a little like we were "tricked" and I can understand anyone being a little pissed about this. I am aware that this is a separate product but it would have nice to know that it was coming. I do hope that Digidesign keeps this in mind when pricing the 7.1 / Music Production package. I will be purchasing this new upgrade for the TL Space reverb and the track-count increase if for no other reason.

Joe, I do NOT have confirmation from Digidesign on the price details, but IIRC, there was something on the website about there being a discount for the recent PT LE 7 upgraders who want to move up to the MPT when it is released. If it is $100 off, as rumor has had it, then IMO, the 7.0 upgrade thing becomes a non-issue.

DINR - 495
Sound Replacer - 395
TL Space - 495
Smack LE - 395
multi-track Beat Detective - priceless
48 tracks - priceless

Almost $1800 worth of Plug-Ins for $500 and free multi-track Beat Detective and 48 tracks?
Or $500 for mtBD and 48 with $1800 worth of plug-ins free?

No-brainer, IMHO.

Well, it still seems unfair. But I guess they're looking out for whats best for business profit. But 48 tracks should have came with LE 7.0 from the jump. we have been asking for it for God knows how long. makes me wonder if 48 tracks was in the works or was it a last minute add-on?
