Default Mighty Mouse - Mac too far away...

On several macs i do have the mighty mouse - and love it! But for the main mixing-room the mac is too far away (it is only abut 4,5 meters - with a wall in between). If i go to the machine room - no problem - it works fine - but not from where i need it to be. So the question is: is there something like a bluetooth-repeater that works? Especially in our business lots of people must have the same problem???
But i did not find any solution in this forum...
I found some infos - but some solutions convert the bluetooth signal into USB... which would not work with the mighty mouse.
Greetings...

I have the same problem. It seems to only work in a very small area.
Had to take my MM wireless back and change it for one with a cable.

If you have a USB hub (powered) near your keyboard, you could easily buy a $20 USB Bluetooth adapter and it should work fine. If your monitor has USB ports (my Dells do) that would work.

It's well documented too that the Mac Pro Bluetooth receiver isn't strong enough for a Magic Mouse anyway. I have my Mac Pro directly under my desk, and I can't use my magic mouse with it, and will have to get a USB Bluetooth dongle to make it work. So it's not just distance if you're using a Mac Pro, as it doesn't appear that the magic mouse works at all with the Mac Pro. It just stutters and it is impossible to use.

Hi!

The blue tooth adapter Tim mentioned should work fine. My MM is about 12 feet away from my machine room (Door Open) and works fine without one. My Mac Pro is about 4 feet off the ground in a rack (Vertically.) so maybe that helps. The mouse is a little heavy with the batteries in it but I am getting used to it. I really like the lack of the USB cable and the clean look. Any time I eliminate a cable from my rig an Angel smiles.

The other great thing about MM is the scrolling. I love to stroke this mouse! Also the left/right scrolling is very cool and saves time if you work in PT all day, every day.

For Safari and PDF magazines/books, the scrolling and page turning is very elegant.

Just my thoughts on MM.

Get one with a cable. Unless of course you wanna bulk up the muscles in your wrist. That bluetooth mouse is heavier than a fat lady.

Personally, I normally use rechargeable batteries in all of my mice. Battery life is less, but they are generally quite a bit lighter than regular batteries.

Keep regular batteries around as a backup, as well as backup rechargeables. I just got an apple magic mouse a couple of weeks ago and haven't gotten around to putting rechargeables in it, but I would imagine they would be OK in that as well.

I'm glad it's not just me that thinks that. Fat and environmentally unfriendly.

Agreed.

Got the new "Magic" Mouse and that UNFORTUNATELY is Bluetooth ONLY. Totally hard on the wrist and immobile as Ayers rock.

Wireless is nice and smart but if heavy and clumsy enters the equation I'd rather use one which is ugly and dumb as long as its light and nimble.

I sold my magic mouse on ebay for more than the MSRP. Nice little rebate from my recent 27" i7 imac purchase.
